Welcome. Hello. Hiya! I’m Rev. Chris. I have red and grey, wild curly hair and green eyes. I’m left handed. My little toes are each missing a bone, so they are shaped like C’s.
I’m also a writer, a dreamer, a retired actor, an activist learning to balance a public and a private life, an armchair theologian, an ex-christian-turned-unitarian-humanist mystic, a mom, a minister, and a badass survivor.
I drink too much tea, love my wife and my dog, and have basically given up on trying to keep a clean house.
I love to cook.
Hate doing laundry.
Have a long-term, ongoing, borderline obsessive relationship with my jean jacket, but my leather jacket is my winter side chick.
Love sunflower seeds, food network, tinkering in my stained glass studio, sitting outside and meditating on a nice day, and traveling.
I’m happiest when I’m near an iceberg or poking a campfire with a stick.
I’m unashamedly wacky in my style choices. Some people say that I have two fashion settings — professional who works with the homeless, and someone who might actually BE homeless. Currently looking a little sheepdog-esque as I grow out my hair for the umpteenth time.
I spent the first 30 years of my life in a fundamentalist christian cult. Was even ordained as one of their clergy, and pastored churches for 12 years. I’ve been out now for over 15 years, and I now serve as the community minister for my local UU congregation and do pulpit fill, maternity and illness subbing, and other short term coverage for regional UU churches. Definitely don’t have it all figured out yet, but I’m working on it, and couldn’t imagine life any other way.
Know that wherever you come from, whatever brought you to my little corner of the internet – you’re welcome here, you’re needed here, you’re wanted here. Respectful discourse is always encouraged, so pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of tea, and stay a while.
